Abandon Checkout Webhook: Now with Detailed Customer & Checkout Data
What is it & why you need it
The new “Trigger Webhook and Send Data” update for the Abandon Checkout trigger will give you deeper insights and more control over lost sales.
Instead of just sending basic info like email and product name, you’ll now get full customer and checkout details including name, phone number, total amount, coupon, discount, and more.
With this feature, you can directly send this data to tools like Pabbly and make use of it such as sending personalized emails, analyzing drop-offs, and ultimately improving your conversions — all automatically.
How it works
You already had the Abandon Checkout trigger and the “Trigger Webhook and Send Data” action inside the automation workflow on your dashboard.
But, the action only had four info: email, product_id, product_type, and product_name. Now, this is expanded in a massive way and you get to send more info using webhook. These include phone_number, total_amount, quantity, country_code, user_ip, checkout_url, etc.
Basically, you set the Abandon Checkout as a trigger. And if you go on to use the Trigger Webhook and Send Data action then you’ll automatically see all the data.
How to get started using it
Head over to your dashboard and go to Marketing & Contacts -> Automation Workflows. You can either create a new workflow or edit an existing one from here.

First, add the Abandon Checkout trigger.

You can select any product for the trigger. It could be a course, membership, digital product, etc. Click the Add Trigger button to add it.

Now, choose the “Trigger Webhook and Send Data” action. Note that this action does come with our Internal Task Automation addon.

Next, paste the webhook URL where you want to send the abandoned checkout data.

Of course, you can see all the data that will be sent inside the Custom Payload box. Click the Add Action button to add the action to the workflow.

Make sure to save the automation. For more details on using multiple triggers and other options, refer to our previous doc.
Remember to use the abandon checkout setting from Site Settings -> Global Settings. This determines when the trigger is fired after a checkout abandonment.

Some Example Use Cases
Here’s just a few ways you can make use of the data:
1. With more personalized data, your marketing campaigns can be even more targeted. You can use first_name and product_name to send personalized reminders and include the checkout_url in recovery emails so users can resume checkout instantly.
2. Identify drop-offs, segment users for smarter marketing, and easily understand user behavior in more details. You can accomplish this thanks to data like name, phone, country, user_ip, etc.
3. Set up smarter coupons and upsell logic with coupon_code, discount, and addons. Track who almost used a coupon and remind them before expiry. Offer a higher discount or suggest relevant upsell products.
We’re sure you have your own ways to make this update a super useful one. Good luck.
